About Deborah DeWeber, MA, LMHC, CMHS

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington and am also an Adult Mental Health Specialist. I am a natural listener with a passion for seeing people set free from destructive mindsets. I love people and feel honored to be included in each clients’ story. I aim to give insight and tools toward breaking free from toxic thought patterns and behaviors. I work to meet clients where they are at and walk with them toward wholeness.

Private Practice in Kent, WA

I have almost two decades of experience as a mental health counselor. The techniques I utilize are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Somatic Integration. I believe healing is always possible, and building connections is the first step. I believe that counseling is a pathway for growth and healing. I help foster a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can gain insight and healing. I believe that the client is the expert on their life, and I am the expert on strategies to facilitate the desired change. Working together, the desired outcome is achieved through honest introspection and intentional changes. I consistently demonstrate genuine concern and maintain a posture of unconditional acceptance.
Overall, the therapeutic model I use is cognitive-behavioral therapy. I incorporate essential components of:
Psychoeducation about maladaptive behavior or thinking

  • Emotion regulation skills
  • Individualized stress management skills
  • Connecting thoughts, feelings, and behaviors
  • Cognitive and affective processing
  • Education about healthy interpersonal relationships
  • Parent treatment components, including parenting skills
  • Joint sessions to practice skills
  • Personal safety skills training
  • Effective coping methods

Counseling services are based on the best available evidence of effectiveness and are tailored to meet the specific needs of individuals and families. I offer high-quality, effective, culturally respectful care that is coordinated and strength-based.
